It outlines the creation, review, impact assessment, documentation, and approval of such changes, along with the procedure for releasing the modified software/product to the end-users and also describes how source code and executable repositories of software/products are controlled, maintained, and promoted through various environments. Configuration Management procedure helps in controlling changes to the configuration and maintaining the integrity and traceability of the source code and executable repositories.
